Riversong: Welcome Home, Builder
A personal cozy colony-builder focused on simulation, village life, and the quiet pleasure of watching systems work together.
Overview
A personal colony-builder project built around atmosphere, simulation, and village life rather than hard pressure or optimization puzzles. The core idea is a peaceful settlement along a river, where villagers gather, deliver, consume, and gradually shape a living town.
From a portfolio perspective, this project matters because it shows direct authorship. It is not a studio slice inside someone else’s product. It reflects end-to-end ownership over game direction, engineering structure, and the moment-to-moment feel of the simulation.
The current public demo is on itch.io. A source-only public repository is planned, with licensed third-party assets excluded.
Responsibilities
- Owned the project direction and technical implementation end to end
- Built simulation-driven village systems centered on resource gathering, delivery, housing progression, and villager needs
- Shaped the game around atmosphere, readability, and a calm colony-builder pace
Impact
- Released a public playable demo on itch.io
- Created a strong authored example of solo technical and product ownership
- Built a project that can later support public source sharing through a sanitized code-only repository
